Piano lessons

I’ve been teaching piano since 2012 in different music schools. In February 2026 I decided to start my own independent music school, Pianoschool Daan van Schaik, in ‘Buurthuis Zilst’, Veldhoven.

My goal in the lessons is to help you learn how to play piano in a structured, and fun way. I use different piano books to teach the fundamentals (rhythm, harmony, theory, note reading and technique). During the years as a teacher, I noticed that it helps students to play music they really like. So, to keep things varied, we can also play pop music, classical music, jazz and learn more about improvisation. Other genres include music from De Efteling, game music (Fortnite, Minecraft, Supermario) and movie music (Amelie, Disney, Frozen, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars). Background

In 2014 I graduated from the conservatory of Tilburg for my Bachelor of Jazz Piano. During this time, I also followed classical piano lessons for four years at the same conservatory. In addition, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Pedagogical Sciences in Utrecht in 2010. This helps me greatly in teaching children and adolescents. I also have experience in music production. In 2007 I followed the pre-education course for Sound Design at the HKU.
